Happy Summer, everyone- I hope this has been a fun one so far! It's time once again to take a look at what's new with the good 'ol Tyrannosaur Series, leading off with the imminent arrival of the Wave 2 assortment!
Wave 2 status- incoming!
Fulfillment update
The Wave 2 assortment is currently 'on the water' enroute to the US, with an expected NY port date of Aug. 07th, arriving just a little later than expected. Allowing time for customs clearance and warehouse transport, I'm estimating US fulfillment to begin the week of Aug. 14th, likely closer to the 18th. Keep in mind that US fulfillment also includes most international orders. I should also mention that several of our backers in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan have their figures a bit early due to them shipping directly from the factory.
For our fans in the EU and UK, Everything Dinosaur's shipment is also on its way to them right now, and fulfillment there will likely begin around the same time as the US fulfillment.
This assortment will remain available at the preorder price until they reach 'in-stock' status. Preorders are up at both creative-beast.com and BackerKit.
Body 3 paint samples
Following up on the previous update, here's a look at the remaining final paint samples for the body 3 figures!

Dryptosaurus

Big thanks goes out once again to Steven Melick for helping with the package design for this assortment.
Wave 2 early reviews
So how are these figures out of the box? I know many of you wish you had them in-hand already, but here's the next best thing- early video reviews! Thank you to all of these top-notch reviewers for posting these videos so quickly!

Wave 3 status-fine cut figures
Switching gears now to check in on the Wave 3 progress- I've reviewed the new body 4 fine cut figures and now the factory is currently working on improvements to these big boys. These are the final figures to be tooled for the Tyrannosaur Series, and bringing the knowledge of the previous two waves, we hope to make these some of the best dinosaur figures so far!
Neck mods
The most notable adjustment is with the neck piece being cut back further to allow more range of motion, similar to what was done on the body 3 figures from wave 2. It's undetermined yet if these adjustments will affect the projected December release date, so for now anyway, the estimate remains as-is. Below are my notes to the factory for this neck adjustment.
Fine Cut photos
While I had these new fine cuts in-hand, I shot some of my own photos. Keep in mind though that Daspleto will be reusing the body 3 arms from Lythronax/ Bistahieversor, but only the new parts are shown here. A blue line is marked for the neck modifications.
Gorgosaurus
The tail tip actually broke off during shipping, and of course I found it only AFTER I shot my photos, haha.
Albertosaurus
Daspletosaurus
Tarbosaurus
I should also note that since these new arms are so small, the wrist articulation may have to be omitted. I'm still awaiting a final verdict on this from the factory, but I expect to have an answer soon.
And let's not forget about these other Wave 3 fine cuts as well!
Moros
Eotyrannus
Alectrosaurus
Catalog shots
With a new wave we get new catalog shots! Kicking off the 3rd set is Albertosaurus and Moros in their respective environments, based on the package art.
That's all of the Tyrannosaur Series news for now. But wait there's more...
Power-Con Aug. 11-13th
Normally, I'd be at San Diego Comic Con right now, but the amazing experience that I had at Power-Con last August changed my perspective on which shows I want to exhibit at. While SDCC is still a fantastic venue and I've had many great experiences there, Power-Con just makes so much more sense for me in terms of connecting directly with the fan base. With a distinct focus on the action figure collector community, Power-Con will be my definitive showcase for new and upcoming products, as well as meeting with fans. I'm super excited for this year's show and it's shaping up to be the best one yet. Just look at who all will be there!
I am truly honored to be considered among such great companies, and I can't wait to catch up with these other creators.
Morenew items
I had a limited supply of the new Wave 2 assortment shipped to Power-Con from the factory, so in addition to the wave 2 Tyrannosaurs, these new items will be available at the show as well.
And of course, we'll also have previous releases of BotM products on-hand for sale. Toys aside, be sure to also stop by our table to meet myself and Cyberzoic designers/ sculptors Ross Persichetti and Chris Chaotic! Speaking of...
Cyberzoic
Not to be outdone by it's BotM cousin, there will be plenty of new prototype reveals for the upcoming Cyberzoic Kickstarter at Power-Con as well! My creative team and I are working hard to get as many new items ready to show as possible, including this bad boy.
So with Power-Con being my new 'SDCC', I'm super excited for what's to come. In my experience it truly is the 'America's mightiest toy convention' and I hope to see you all there!
That's gonna do it for the Tyrannosaur Series news, but to see more frequent updates on all of the CBS projects, and there are many, be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. and if social media isn't for you, we have you covered with the 'News' section of my website , updated each week with all the latest info, or simply sign up for our newsletter at creative-beast.com at the bottom of the page.
Take care everyone, and hopefully I'll see some of you next month at Power-Con!

Wave 2 status- new Test Shots, Paint Samples, Package Layouts, and more!
– Mon, May 15, 2023 at 09:29:16 AM
Hello again everyone, I hope you all are doing well as we approach the summer season! My apologies for not finishing this update sooner as it had been planned to be ready last week, but I needed just a little more time to complete it. That being said, there's no big news to report, but that's probably a good thing!
We're still on track with Wave 2 to hit our warehouse in late July/ early August and the wave 3 fine cuts are currently in-progress, with that assortment still estimated for a Nov./ Dec. arrival. So let's get to what's been happening lately with the Tyrannosaur Series!
Wave 2 paint sample galleries
We have paint samples for four of the seven wave 2 figures. The three larger ones- Lythronax, Bistahieversor, and Dryptosaurus, are lagging a bit behind the others due to them being newly tooled, but more on those in a bit.
The best thing about getting first paint samples is always setting them up in fun poses to see what they can do and to get a feel for how the final product will be - take a look!
It's also worth noting that while these look good for the factory's first attempts at the paint work, I did provide them with notes to get these even closer to the original prototypes. I'll be sure to post final samples once I have them!
Body 3 Test shots
And while we await the paint samples for these next three, we can enjoy some cool poses with these new test shots!
I'm expecting to see the paint samples for these within the next week or two, so stay tuned for more updates soon!
Wave 2 package layout preview
We've also been busy preparing the next round of package layouts as well. Here's a first look!
Big thanks once again goes to Steve Melick for these great package design layouts.
Wave 2 and 3 Preorders added to creative-beast.com
I also wanted to let you all know that in addition to the Tyrannosaur wave 2 and 3 preorders being available on BackerKit, I've also added them to creative-beast.com. Here you'll be able to combine them with other preorder items such as the newly-added Utahraptor, Achillobator, and the Styracosaurus reissue.
The pricing remains the same as on BackerKit, but with more options to add to your order for combined shipping. I will also say that if you've had trouble paying with a credit card on BackerKit, you may want to try this route instead.
Power-Con 2023
Creative Beast Studio will be back this year at Power-Con! 'America's Mightiest Toy Convention' is once again in Columbus, Ohio during August 11-13, 2023. Last year's event was amazing and it's likely to be even better this time around.
We'll have plenty of prototypes on display for Cyberzoic and Beasts of the Mesozoic as well as new product on-hand for sale. Among the new products will be the 1/18th scale glow-in-the-dark vintage-style mini figures: Velociraptor, Protoceratops (andrewsi), and Psittacosaurus!
There will be a Power-Con exclusive version of these individually carded at the show featuring the mainline BotM packaging, which will be extremely limited. For those that can't make it out, I'll also be offering these as a three-pack in vintage-style packaging at creative-beast.com beginning this Thursday!
If you are planning on attending Power-Con, you can still lock in the lowest ticket prices until the end of this month at thepower-con.com. Hope to see you there!
That'll do it for this round of Tyrannosaur Series news, but there's always more happening so be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for the most up-to-date project news. Alternatively, the 'News' section of my website is updated each weekend with all the latest info as well.
Until next time- take care!

Wave 2 status- new fine cuts and paint samples; wave 1.5 fulfillment and more!
– Sat, Mar 11, 2023 at 04:28:01 PM
Hello again everyone, it's now time for a proper-sized Beasts of the Mesozoic Tyrannosaur Series update. There's a lot to go over, so let's kick things off with the latest progress on Wave 2!
Wave 2 now set for Summer release
With wave 1.5 now in the books (more on that later), we can now set our sights on wave 2. The initial estimate had wave 2 delivering this month, March 2023, but as is often the case, things are progressing a bit slower than anticipated. Luckily there've been no significant mishaps, but refinement of the new Body 3 fine cuts along with the previous assortment delays, have pushed the release date back to this summer. So, Wave 2 fulfillment is now expected for late July/ early August.
The factory has provided me with this production timeline for wave 2:
- Fine cut finished - Drypto, Bistah, Lythron (2/20)- DONE
- Paint samples- Qian, Terato, Suski, and Procerat (3/20)- DONE
- First test shots - Drypto, Bistah, Lythron (4/10)
- Paint samples- Drypto, Bistah, Lythron (5/10)
- Production finished in late June (6/10)
I also want to mention that the release date for Wave 3 is now tentatively set for November. I plan to begin the fine cut process for the Body 4 figures (Tarbo, Daspleto, Alberto, and Gorgo) soon after the new tooling for Body 3 is completed.
Body3fine cut update
While the Body 3 fine cuts were initially finished last month, I had some notes for refining the details as well as adjusting the neck pieces on Bistahieversor and Lythronax. Here's a look at the initial fine cut figures, which already looked quite good.
Dryptosaurus
Bistahieversor
Lythronax
RefinementNotes
Despite the positive feedback I received from the initial fine cut photos (above) on social media, I still saw a lot of room for improvement. Firstly, decided to add back a small amount of material on the neck for a smoother visual transition behind the head. This won't hinder the movement, but it'll help maintain as much of the original silhouette as possible. I then had the factory match up the textures on the added material.
There were also instances of certain face details getting lost or becoming too shallow, so those were corrected as well.
Lythronax was presented a challenge with it's transitioning textures on the face and neck between scaly and wrinkly. The initial version had them looking way too abrupt.
The biggest adjustment, however, was having them deepen all of the body details slightly. There was also a faint line on the torso, probably from the 3D print, that had to be fixed.
Final Parts
And here's a look at the parts after the refinements were made.
I'm very pleased with how these turned out and I can't want to see them in plastic, test-shot form. I know that the time put into refining these details will be well worth it!
New wave 2 Paint samples
The other figures in Wave 2 are a bit further along. I have plenty of photos to share from the factory comparing the new paint samples with along side the original painted prototypes for comparison. You can easily spot the prototypes by their worn out, paint scraped condition.
Suskityrannus
Teratophoneus
Proceratosaurus
This is really the only one that I don't think they quite nailed. It's really close, but a brown wash still needs to be added on the face as well as dark browns needing to come down further in multiple areas. But it's all fairly simple to fix.
Qianzhousaurus
Overall, I'm really impressed with how these look for a first attempt. I'll be taking my own photos of these samples soon, so keep an eye out for those on my social media in the coming weeks!
Several new raptors are planned for release this year including the second versions of the 1/6th scale Adasaurus (left) and Acheroraptor (right), as well as three new additions to the 1/18 scale raptor lineup. These were planned for this summer anyway and are now set to release along with the Wave 2 Tyrannosaurs.
As of this writing, the wave 1.5 fulfillment from the US is about 90% complete, with the remaining orders shipping on Monday. As always, here are the customary warehouse arrival photos thanks to the hard working folks at Fulfillrite!
Click on the image to see each product page.
And as many of you know, there were new Ceratopsians in this assortment as well!
These are all now in-stock and have been added to the 'New Arrivals' section at creative-beast.com.
Video reviews
We also have new video reviews for the new releases. Big thanks to these awesome creators who put each review out in advance of the release. Please check them out and show your support for their channels!
I've mentioned this recently on my social media, but I wanted to post it here in case any one missed it. This assortment had an unfortunate error with the card printing, with cards showing low-resolution pixelation and incorrect sizing. By the time I was aware of this, it was too late to change it.
So while the assortment was in transit between China and the US, I had the factory reprint the cards correctly so I could have them have on-hand for those of you who like to collect them.
I'm now sending out replacement cards, by customer request, for no charge. Please message me if you would like your cards to be replaced and I'll put you on the list. But know that I am receiving a lot of requests right now, so please allow me some time to get caught up.
My sincere apologies to everyone for this error and I thank you all for understanding!
Cyberzoic Kickstarter date confirmed!
Lastly, I want to end on news about for our next Kickstarter event. The launch date for the first Cyberzoic Kickstarter has now been set for Oct. 3rd 2023!
There will be plenty more news to come on this exciting new action figure line and its story. For those unfamiliar with Cyberzoic, you can find out more here.
Thank you all once again if you made it this far, I know that was a lot to cover! Remember, for all of the newest Creative Beast Studio info, please be sure to follow me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Or, if social media isn't your thing, you can simply visit the 'News' section of my website, updated each weekend.
Take care everyone!

Wave 1.5 shipping soon- time to check your address!
– Sat, Mar 04, 2023 at 09:07:54 AM
Hi All,
I wanted to send an unusually small update out to let you all know that the new wave 1.5 assortment has arrived in the US and we'll be ready to begin fulfillment as soon as this coming Tuesday!
This assortment includes Yutyrannus, Guanlong, juvenile T. rex, and Dilong. In addition to the Tyrannosaur figures, the both Old Buck Styracosaurs and the Diabloceratops nestling 3-pack will be shipping as well. So if you have any doubts about your shipping address, or have been planning to update it, now is the time!
The US fulfillment includes most regions, with the exception of those in the UK and EU who's orders have already been fulfilled by Everything Dinosaur.
Wave 1.5 Preorders ending soon
For those interested in locking-in the discounted prices on these releases, this will be the final weekend to preorder before they go to the regular MSRP. You can find the Tyrannosaur preorders on BackerKit, and the Ceratopsian preorders are at creavite-beast.com.
Split shipping for multi-wave figure orders
I know many of your are aware of the split shipping concept which allows you to receive figures as they're released, but I'm still receiving a lot of questions from backers as to why certain released items have yet to ship to them. If you have items from multiple waves (1, 2, and/or 3) or if you preordered multi-wave items together through BackerKit, these orders are automatically set to ship all-at-once, which helps keeps the shipping cost to a minimum. But the good news is that you can add 'split shipping' to any order at any time, which helps to cover the cost of multiple shipments. Just message me with your order info and I'll be happy to help get your figures to you as soon as possible!
That's all I have for now. I'm currently working on a larger, more thorough update for next week that will include the latest on wave 2 and 3, as well as more info on the new 1.5 figures. So stay tuned for that and until then, enjoy the weekend everyone!
